Rochester artist Stephen Lackore paints with transparent watercolors. He depicts a variety of landscapes and still life images inspired by the North Shore of Lake Superior and the streams and bluff-lands of SE Minnesota. He describes his work as a traditional realist style through his interpretation of color, shape, light and shadow. Initially inspired by the work of the Impressionists, Monika Gloviczki modernizes her paintings by incorporating elements of abstraction and reportage. While she often approaches a painting with a scene in mind, Gloviczki then allows her instincts and imagination to take over, producing scenes that are beautiful and spontaneous. She describes her work as a form of “silent music,” a symphony played by pigments to form a harmony of composition and color, a song describing deeper layers and moving beyond the banalities of everyday life to reveal what’s extraordinary. Ann Thiemann likes to work with her hands. She creates unique jewelry using semiprecious stones and precious metals Anne grew up in Germany and moved to Rochester in 1999 where she lives with her husband and three children.
